Were you ever told that you can't perform massage on acute injuries? Yes, you can. ÊHowever, it is not a technique you have ever learned  in school. Soft Touch for Acute Trauma (S.T.A.T.) is a gentle technique applied after soft tissue injuries of sprained ankles or back strains.  It may also be used immediately after surgery, especially hip and knee replacements, to decrease scar tissue and increase flexibility and  range of motion. ÊIn this class, you will learn the S.T.A.T. technique as well as discussing types of trauma and dealing with flashbacks  from trauma. Hands-on practice time will allow you to feel confident with the technique. . Ê

Marie King Hardman, MS, RN, LMT began teaching trauma and massage in 1998. In 2004, she developed the S.T.A.T. technique. Marie  practices massage and bodywork for trauma in her private practice in Portland. She also is writing a book on this topic. Ê Ê

 "Why Are You?"ÑBob Baxter Ê Ê (9am-12pm) Ê Ê (WORKSHOP III) 3 CEU's Ê

A booklet written by Bob and Martha that examines the nature of beliefs Ð statements of what we think is true about life. ÊOur beliefs  generate our emotions. ÊOriental philosophy teaches that each emotion correlates with an organ meridian and influences the health and  vitality of that meridian. ÊSo examining beliefs and emotions can lead to understanding of why symptoms of illness manifest in certain  areas of the body. ÊThe body becomes a feedback system and our symptoms become clues to help us understand who we are.  Workshop is 2-3 hours and includes booklet, visualizations, and energy therapy techniques.
